POWs in the OKW Zone
POWs were kept either in front units (OKH zone) or in the rear (OKW zone). The OKW zone consisted of the following areas: Reich, Generalgouvernement, Reichskommissariat Ostland, Reichskommissariat Ukraine, Norwegen, Belgien/Nordfrankreich, and others. The number of POWs held in captivity in the individual camps of the OKW zone was reported on a monthly basis to the ICRC in Geneve, the respective totals can be found in Monthly POW Figures.
